Itinerary

Day 1Hong Kong > Vienna > Historical city center of Bratislava

Arrival at Vienna airport. Meeting and greeting by the driver and English-speaking guide at the airport and transfer to Bratislava. 1 hour city tour of Bratislava by bus – you will see all the main highlights of Bratislava as beautiful art-noveau Blue Church of Bratislava, Archibishop Palace, Presidential Palace, the district full of villas from 19th century called Palisady, continue to Slavin monument, from where is a superb view on whole Bratislava.

Check in at the hotel, and after the check in and a bit of free time, walking tour of historical city center of Bratislava – St. Michael’s Gate, Opera House, Primatial Palace, Old Town Hall, St. Martin’s Cathedral, Mozart House, Academia Istropolitana and many more. Dinner at traditional Bratislava’s restaurant in the city center, within walking distance of the hotel.

Overnight in Bratislava. Park Inn by Radisson Danube Hotel, 4*+ or similar

Day 2The Small Carpathian Wine Route > Trnava (Little Rome of Slovakia) > Small wine towns Pezinok and Modra

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. This day will be dedicated to wine cultural of Slovakia. We will visit the most famous wine region of Slovakia – The Small Carpathian Wine Route, which will surprise you with the high quality of local wine and above all with exceptional delicious rose wine. According to the legends from this region it came the most favorite wine of Maria Theresa – Frankovka Modra. The legends says every time she drunk Frankovka Modra, she became pregnant, and Maria Theresa altogether had 16 kids 😊.

We will start in city of Trnava, locate about 50 km from Bratislava, the Slovakian capital. Trnava is called also “Little Rome of Slovakia”, thanks to many churches, cathedrals and basilicas located in the city. We will stroll in its beautiful city center and entrance to St. John Baptist Basilica. Afterwards we will continue to one of the most romantic castles of Slovakia – the Red Stone Castle, which boast by the biggest cellars in Central Europe. Lunch break in a small local cozy restaurant. Continue to small wine towns Pezinok and Modra and visit of the city center of this cities, which is full of history and wine traditions.

We will learn about the traditional Slovakian pottery Majolika, which is typical for this region. In Pezinok the capital city of Slovak wine production, we will have the wine tasting in historical wine cellar. After the wine tasting, the wine dinner accompanied by the local fine wine. In the evening return to Bratislava ON .

Day 3 The Devin Castle > Dolna Krupa (Ludvic van Beethoven) > The oldest Slovakian town Nitra

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. This day will be dedicated to the legacy of Great Moravian Empire in Slovakia. The Great Moravian Empire was the Empire of Slavic people in 9th century and its covers what is now Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary and East Germany.

We will visit one of the oldest castles of Slovakia, the Devin Castle, which lies on confluence of 2 rivers – Danube and Morava River and on border of 3 countries Slovakia, Austria and Czech Republic. The original castle is from 9th century. During the time of communism, Devin area was the border of iron curtain.

Continue to a small town of Dolna Krupa, where used to live and composed the famous musician Ludvic van Beethoven. We will visit the mead factory and taste the Slovakian peculiarity liquor from honey. In summer possible to visit beautiful rose arboretum. Lunch break and continue to the oldest Slovakian town Nitra.

Visit of the city with, Nitra castle with St. Emeram cathedral. According the legends in Nitra used to live St. Cyril and Methods, who invented the first Slavic alphabet Hlaholika, the predecessor of modern Russian or Serbian alphabet. Afternoon return to Bratislava, and dinner in a local restaurant within walking distance from the hotel. ON – BTS

Day 4UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE – the former mining city Banska Stiavnica

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Check out and departure towards the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE – the former mining city Banska Stiavnica. On the route to Banska Stiavnica stop in Hronsky Benadikt abbey, the oldest Slovakian abbey originally from 9th century with beautiful basilica of St. Benedict, where they store the pricy artefact, the relicts of blood of Jesus Christ. Continue to Banska Stiavnica, visit of this beautiful city, full of UNESCO Monuments.

In summer it is possible to visit open air mining museum. Visit of Old Castle of Banska Stiavnica. Lunch break in Banska Stiavnica. Continue to central Slovakia, the city of Banska Bystrica, with beautiful historical city center.

During 2nd World War, Banska Bystrica was the headquarters of Slovak National Uprising. Afternoon continue to Grand Hotel Viglas, originally the castle converted into the hotel. Dinner and overnight at Viglas.

Day 5Wooden articular protestant church in Hronsek (UNESCO) > Vlkolinec (UNESCO), the wooden village > Orava Castle > Lestiny (UNESCO) > Lestiny (UNESCO)

Buffet breakfast and check out from the hotel. Visit of wooden articular protestant church in Hronsek built without using any nail (UNESCO). On the route stop in Vlkolinec (UNESCO), the wooden village still inhabited by the all year inhabitants, located in the beautiful mountains of Big Fatra National Park. Continue to one of the most authentic regions of Slovakia – Orava, visit of one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles Orava Castle, which is nicknamed also the Dracula Castle as the first movie about lord Dracula they filmed there – Nosferatu from 1922.

Lunch break. In the afternoon either visit of wooden protestant church built without using any nail in Lestiny (UNESCO) either in summer possible to take ride in traditional Slovakian Forrest Railway.

Transfer towards Low Tatras, on the way short photo stop in small spa town Lucky, where is located Lucky Waterfall. Arrival at Demanova Valley (Low Tatras) and accommodation at 4* wellness hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6Low Tatras National Park > cable car to Chopok Peak > the Demanova Cave > Open Air museum of Liptov village

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. This day will be dedicated to the beautiful nature of Low Tatras National Park. After breakfast take a cable car to Chopok Peak (2024 m).

Afterwards go to the one of the biggest and most beautiful caves of Slovakia, the Demanova Cave. Lunch break in traditional restaurant and after the lunch visit of open air museum of Liptov village in Pribylina.

After the visit of open air museum, entrance to Tatralandia Aqua Park, the biggest Slovakian aqua park with thermal, healing water. 2 hours of soaking in the water. Return to the hotel in Demanovska valley and dinner.

Day 7the biggest Slovakian mountains – High Tatras > the biggest glacial lakes of High Tatras, Strbske Pleso > historical city center of city of Poprad (Spisska Sobota) > Slovakian restaurant Koliba with folk music

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. This day will be dedicated to the biggest Slovakian mountains – High Tatras. Taking a cable car to beautiful glacial peak Skalnate Pleso (1751 m). Afterwards short stroll along one of the biggest glacial lakes of High Tatras, Strbske Pleso, the iconic Slovakian ski & summer resort.

Lunch break in High Tatras. Afterwards go to Kezmarok, the medieval city and entrance to Kezmarok wooden church, built without using any nail (UNESCO).

Continue to historical city center of city of Poprad (Spisska Sobota) and have a lunch at traditional Slovakian restaurant Koliba with folk music. Overnight at Grand Hotel Praha, 4*

Day 8the biggest castle in Central Europe – the Spiss Castle (UNESCO) > visit of Slovakian Vatican – the Spisska Abbey (UNESCO) > basilica of St. James (UNESCO)

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. This day will be dedicated to Zipser Region full of unique UNESCO gothic sites. Visit of the biggest castle in Central Europe – the Spiss Castle (UNESCO), afterwards visit of Slovakian Vatican – the Spisska Abbey (UNESCO) with St. Martin’s cathedral.

Continue to the medieval town Levoca. Lunch break. After the lunch, short stroll in beautiful city center of Levoca and entrance to basilica of St. James (UNESCO).

Late afternoon return to hotel, short break, possible to visit hotel’s spa, or to stroll in mountain village Tatranska Lomnica, where the hotel is located. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in High Tatras.

Day 9Small authentic village of Zdiar > National Park Pieniny > take unique experience – traditional Slovakian wooden rafting on “plte”.

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Small authentic village of Zdiar, visit of exteries of beautiful mountain hut of conde Coburg, continue to Bachledka Valley, entrance to toptree path. Lunch break. Continue to National Park Pieniny, located on the Slovak – Poland border and take unique experience – traditional Slovakian wooden rafting on “plte”. In the past plte had been used for transferring the wood on river. Late afternoon return to the hotel and overnight at Grand Hotel Praha.

Day 10historical city center of Zilina > Rajecka Lesna(Slovakian wooden betlehem) > “gingerbread” village Cicmany

Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards Bratislava. Short stop in Zilina, visit of historical city center of Zilina and church of St. Stephan from 13th century. Continue to Rajecka Lesna, where is located the Slovakian wooden betlehem which shows the customs and landscape of Slovakia.

Continue to “gingerbread” village Cicmany, visit of this mountain village full of wooden houses with white ornaments. Late afternoon arrival in Bratislava. Check in at the hotel and dinner at the restaurant within walking distance from the hotel.

Day 11Back to Hong Kong
